The flag of Sabah, adopted on September 16, 1988, features a silhouette of Mount Kinabalu in dark blue against a light blue background in the canton, symbolizing the state of Sabah. The field consists of three horizontal stripes: medium blue over white over red. The five colors represent the five divisions in Sabah: zircon blue for peace and calmness, icicle blue for unity and prosperity, royal blue for strength and harmony, white for purity and justice, and chili red for courage and determination.
