This badge depicts the Southern Cross constellation, composed of five white stars ranging from five to eight points, each with one point directed upwards. Adopted in 1870, the flag's design has undergone minor variations, with the most recent change in 1953. Notably, it is the only Australian state flag that does not display the state badge on a round disc.
